Minatare and it's surrounding area offers several recreation options.  Every summer, the annual Tabor Days celebration is lots of fun.  Lake Minatare State Recreation Area is a great place for fishing, water sports and camping.  Lake Alice Reservoir is a Wildlife Refuge with the largest Bald Eagle population in Nebraska.  Chimney Rock National Historic Site located East of Minatare near Bayard Nebraska is a must see.  Or head West to Gering to visit the Scotts Bluff National Monument.
